Generative Artificial Intelligence in Life Science and History Courses: Experiences, Opinions, and Policy Implementations
The next SIS seminar will be held Wednesday October 30th, 2024 at 10:00 am.
In this seminar, we will share the results of our Partnered in Teaching & Learning grant on generative AI in the classroom. We will share the results of our wide-ranging research, in which we conducted surveys on lower and upper level Life Science and History classes, carried out focus groups with Life Science students and gathered TA perspectives. We hope the data and analysis presented can start a discussion not just on the utility and regulation of AI usage in the classroom, but also encourage faculty and staff to reflect more deeply on the ethical and equity issues that generative AI raises.
The research presented is part of an Office of the Provost and MacPherson Institute Partnered in Teaching & Learning grant (2023-24) led by Dr Maryam Zamani. Co-investigators on the project are Ryan Belowitz, Alexander Hall, Ross Ryan and Abeer Siddiqui. We will be presenting our findings with the support of our two student RAs Ms. Alyssa Georgescu and Ms. Shreya Krishnammagaru.
