Our iSci student symposium, Synthesis, takes place every year giving students an opportunity to present their research, participate in workshops and attend invited speaker seminars. It’s a unique academic symposium run entirely by students enrolled in the iSci program.
Created in 2012, Synthesis is designed for iSci students to showcase the work they complete in all years of study, including enrichment projects, individual projects and fourth-year theses. It also serves to communicate the importance of interdisciplinary research to the greater McMaster community and foster an environment of strong science communication.
Since its inception, Synthesis has continuously grown, serving as an excellent means of highlighting the remarkable work done by iSci students. In addition, the symposium features a number of notable speakers from McMaster and beyond and highlights the importance of student well-being through its Walk Across Canada challenge.
